SOMOGHI is an odd not-Romanian, not-Hungarian hybrid name that technically does not have a proper pronunciation. Therefore you can, literally, call me whatever you'd like. Hi.
My name is Daniel Somoghi. I am 24 years old and currently based in the UK. I have been doing posters for my high school's poetry events and such without ever realizing that I really enjoyed doing them. After graduating in Linguistics, I went on to study Literature at Universitatea de Vest in Timisoara, Romania before promptly realizing that I would like to do something completely different career-wise.
Having been hired as a photographer/graphic designer at a local skateboarding and apparel shop I have dropped out of University and thus had the chance to understand what career I want to work in.
U-Man Shop, the name of my caretakers, has been nothing short of an amazing experience and a very sudden wake up call at the same time. I was 19 years old at the time of getting hired there and I have never worked in such a fast-paced environment with such tight deadlines. It is safe to say that it matured me both as a designer and as a worker-bee-individual. I can now confidently make phone calls.
I decided that I want to study graphic design at a much higher level and so decided to move to the UK to fully commit to this idea. I have received my Higher National Diploma in Visual Communication & Design at North East Scotland College Aberdeen, Scotland with BA in my graded units. I am now on a 3-year course studying Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design at University of Dundee, Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. So far, it feels as if everything has been moving at the speed of light and I am blinking too much. This website, my portfolio and my photography, is an attempt at slowing things down and taking control.
